Louisiana Is Joining the Nurse Licensure Compact – GIFTED News

GIFTED Healthcare is thrilled to announce exciting news for Travel Nurses across the U.S.

On July 1, 2019, Louisiana (LA) will become part of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). The NLC allows nurses to obtain a multistate license and practice in any state that is part of the compact without obtaining additional licenses.

How Will the NLC Change Nursing in Louisiana?

Simply put, this means:

  • Travel Nurses living outside of LA that hold a multistate license are not required to obtain an additional license to practice in LA.
  • Nurses who live in LA, hold an active LA license, and meet the Louisiana State Board of Nursing‘s (LSBN) requirements will be eligible to apply for a multistate license. Once a multistate license is obtained, these nurses will be able to practice in all 31 NLC member states without obtaining additional licenses.
