RESPONSIBILITIES:

School Guidance Counselors work in collaboration with parents, teachers, principals, medical professionals, and social workers to identify and address students facing developmental and academic struggles. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide counseling to students in need including individual counseling and crisis intervention to help students cope with anger, grief, drug & alcohol use, problem-solving, etc.
• Facilitate peer mediations as necessary to assist with conflict resolution and anger management skills
• Work with and interview families to assess problems affecting the child to better understand and support their school adjustment
• Make referrals to outpatient treatment when necessary
