RESPONSIBILITIES:

School social workers work with teachers, parents, and school administrators to develop plans and strategies to help students with aggressive behavior, bullying, or frequent absences from school improve academic performance. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Plan, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate programs and services to meet the needs of students and their families
• Provide and/or coordinates group counseling programs for students whose needs may include social dysfunction, excessive fear and anxiety, chemical abuse problems, or other serious developmental problems
• Conduct individual or group counseling for at-risk students
• Provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity
• Interact proactively with students and/or families to avoid crisis situations

CERTIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Social Work
