Temporary License Processing

The Montana State Board of Nursing does not offer temporary nursing licenses. Permanent license take about 10 days (or a few more) to be received after the board has obtained all necessary and required documents.

** Temporary licenses are only issued while other required documents are in the process of being received and is used in the meantime before a permanent license is obtained. There are additional steps that MUST be completed to receive a permanent license.

Additional Information

**All licenses renew on December 31st of even numbered years.

**All RNs MUST maintain proof of 24 continuing education credits per two-year licensing period.
