Temporary License Processing
It takes approximately 2 months to receive a temporary license in California and the license will last for up to 6 months (must not have any prior convictions or disciplinary action to obtain). All documents must be received before application can be considered.

Temporary licenses are only issued while required documents are being processed. There are additional steps that must be completed to receive a permanent license.
Additional Information
- Renewals can be completed online if the license has expired within the last 8 years.
- Nurse must provide proof of 30 hours of Continued Education (CE) taken every 2 years.
- Must apply for reinstatement instead of renewal if license is expired over 8 years.
- Background checks are required for those who have not been previously fingerprinted after 03/01/2009.
