Temporary License Processing
It takes approximately 2 months to receive a temporary license in California and the license will last for up to 6 months (must not have any prior convictions or disciplinary action to obtain). All documents must be received before application can be considered.

** Temporary licenses are only issued while other required documents are in the process of being received and is used in the meantime before a permanent license is obtained. There are additional steps that MUST be completed to receive a permanent license.
**Renewals can be completed online if the license has expired within the last 8 years.
**Nurse must provide proof of 30 hours of Continued Education (CE) taken every 2 years.
**Must apply for reinstatement instead of renewal if license is expired over 8 years.
**Background checks are required for those who have not been previously fingerprinted after 03/01/2009.
