Temporary License Processing & Walk-Through Service
It takes approximately 30 days to receive a temporary license in Arizona and the license will last for up to 6 months (must not have any prior convictions or disciplinary action to obtain).
As a Walk-Through State, Arizona is able to issue temporary licenses within 48 hours for emergencies only. In order to receive a temporary license within 48 hours, you must bring all required documents including a letter of employment on the employer’s letterhead with a specific starting date within 7 days of current date.

Temporary licenses are only issued while other required documents are being processed. There are additional steps that must be completed to receive a permanent license.
Additional Information
Nurses must submit a written request for a paper application from AZBN (Arizona State Board of Nursing) if license is expired – Application must be submitted in a self-addressed and stamped envelope.
