Barry Faucheux – New Orleans CityBusiness 2017 Health Care Hero

GIFTED Healthcare is excited to announce that Barry Faucheux, a GIFTED Infusion Nurse and GIFTED’s Crisis Prevention Institute Instructor, is a recipient of the New Orleans CityBusiness 2017 Health Care Hero Award

Barry GIFTED'S Nurse Hero - Health Care Hero Award

The Health Care Hero Award honors 50 health care professionals in the New Orleans area. Honorees of the award were selected based on industry and community involvement and the achievements they set for the overall community.

Barry Faucheux has been an RN with GIFTED Healthcare for almost a decade. He consistently strives to go above and beyond the call of duty.

  • Barry wakes up at 2:00am every day and drives to each of his patients home to administer their infusion therapy. Most of Barry’s patients are young children and by doing this he does not disrupt their daily routine and makes it as comfortable for them as possible. In 2011, Barry began providing infusions to a 2-month old who will need weekly infusions for the rest of her life. Recently, he completed his 300th visit with this patient.
  • Biomarin, a pharmaceutical company, chose Barry to be one of the first to administer the drug Naglazyme, which is a specialty drug that only highly trained nurses are approved to give.
  • Barry was honored as a Great 100 Nurse at The Great 100 Nurses Celebration of Louisiana in 2015 and each year he donates his delicious homemade cajun food for the event.
  • Barry leads GIFTED Healthcare’s annual Christmas present donation to infusion families in need. He buys presents for all of the children in the families, wraps and delivers them.  The children light up with joy believing the presents are from Santa.
  • As the GIFTED Healthcare’s Crisis Prevention Institute Instructor, he educates nurses across the entire state on crisis prevention.

Barry is truly loved by all of his patients and is a proven expert in his field. He is a great example of a GIFTED Nurse Hero and he inspires us all at GIFTED. A reception will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at The New Orleans Museum of Art to recognize the honorees. Tickets can be purchased here.
